Riverdance: Music From The Show
Say what you will about RiverDance, Bill Whelan's eccentric and eclectic soundtrack helped to bring Celtic music into the mainstream. No show with Irish tunes of any sort should be without some of terrific tracks from this CD. CelticMelt features the dynamic and exciting opening number, Reel Around the Sun, to the angelic voice of Sarah Clancy singing The Heart's Cry.
I know that CDs cannot "wear out" in the traditional sense, but by all rights, this one should have I've listened to it so many times.
Enya

The Memory Of Trees
Possessing one of the most iridescent voices in all of popular music, Enya skillfully melts "new-age" harmonies with more traditional folk based rhythms. Considering that new-age philosophy is pagan in its very nature as is the nature based ancient Celtic religions it seemed only natural to blend the two musical genres together. CelticMelt brings to you 3 pieces from this CD, Anywhere, China Rose and The Memory of Trees (a terrific number for doing a waltz).
Celtic Planet

Celtic Twilight 4: Celtic Planet
Celtic Planet is one those CD's labeled as "Various" in most catalogs. It is a collection of 14 tracks, each by a different artist such as Mychael Danna or Kate Power. And as such serves as a good sampler. This ended up being a real gold-mine for my show, with 6 tracks total. Featured songs include Return to Inishmore, Wild Wind and The Immigrant.
