Chapter 9

G'Kar moved swiftly into the side corridor. Coming down below to Burnt Umber level never really bothered him that much. It provided much needed anonymity. The thing he really hated were the damned street merchants and entertainers. The mimes especially. Even as he was thinking about this a spry clown-like creature in white face came up to him and started to paint a "wall" around the former ambassador. Repulsed, G'Kar cursed at him with a fine Narn maledictory flourish.

If the Narns were known for anything, they where among the best in the galaxy at swearing. The mime jumped back in fake horror, motioned that tears were streaming from his eyes fell on his knees and begged G'Kar for forgiveness in a way that only a mime could beg. G'kar pulled out his PPG and blasted the pathetic little creature. Face paint flew one direction, white gloves another. "I'd consider siding with the Shadows if only they could guarantee the elimination of the mime homeworld", he thought. "Whoever let these dreadful creatures onboard the station should be shot, now the place was completely infested with them". Indeed it is said that the Centauries attempted to subdue the planet Mime-anar, but the armies rebelled at the thought of seeing millions of melancholy little faces starting wide-eyed at them day in and day out.

Just then a voice from the darkness whispered his name. G'Kar turned around and found his contact A scaly Narn trader named Minkman. "I have what you came after Mr. G'Kar, but it'll cost you more than we agreed upon".

"More? I should have had you arrested for robbery based on your original prices."

"I'm sorry, but those new postal rates are killers and with the Earther's war going on, there's been an embargo of novelty items. Plus, where else are you going to find the quality that I have, just waiting for you."

"Very well, let me see".

Minkman pulled out from under his jacket a small flat device not much larger than a man's hand.

"What did you say these were called?" G'Kar asked.

The humans call them "Woo-pee Cushions".

"I wonder why. Are you sure they will work.?"

"Hey, it's from me! Minkman! Have I ever been wrong before? You could go with the Minbari versions, but they are much softer in sound and made out of silk. The Vorlons are reported to have the most technologically advanced whoopee cushions in the galaxy made with a bio-organic substrate, but you'd have better luck surviving a Minbari doing the Macarena then getting one of those."

G'Kar examined the precious device. "Even so, I feel I still must test it"

"I would advise against that Mr. G'Kar. I have no idea how this will affect a Narn, it's never been done before. . ."

But G'Kar was already starting in inflate the rubber pad and was already thinking of what the effects would be. With their weapons at an all time low, the Narn resistance determined that if they couldn't kill the Centauri invaders they could humiliate them to death and be entertained in the process.

Minkman continued on. "If you are willing to pay the price, I can get you a brand used by the Mars rebels. They come with Changeling nets imbedded in the rubber. That way, they can be made to look like. . ."

Just then an extremely rude sound pieced the dark drafty corridor as G'Kar slid down to the ground.

"Ahhhhhh" he said with a contented look on his face, "I'll take 4 dozen".

"Oh? well, uh, Good! I'll write you up an order. . .Could I interest you in something else called 'hand buzzers'?"

Narn's in the Night (Sung to Strangers in the Night)

Narn's in the night
Exchanging weapons
Narn's in the night
Fleeing oppression
Narn's in the night
Quoting from G'Quan

Narn's in the night
Waxing poetic
Narn's in the night
Dressing dramatic
Narn's in the night

Hoping they'll win one day

Narn's in the night
A prideful people they are
Narn's in the night
Asking asylum, but. . .
Since the first attack
They've been getting back
Victory's some time away, and
Londo will get his some day, so. . .

Narn's in the night
Brandishing some big clubs
Narn's in the night
Cursing Mollari
There may be some light
For Narn's in the night
