Distant Suns/iPad issues

[UPDATE] If you are getting random crashes with the iPad version of Distant Suns see if your iPad case has magnetic latches. Some clever designer forgot that magnets+things-with-a-compass=really dumb.

Distant Sun’s didn’t know how to process those kind of extreme heading errors and would just check out. That has been fixed and should be in the chute shortly.

I have skewing problems also. Using the apple case. Located in NYC. At 12:00 Noon. I hold the iPad overhead and see the sun on the display. I drop the pad facing south and see the compass indicating south. So far Ok. now I swing 90 degrees CW and expect Distant Suns to say I am looking in the west direction. The compas says I am facing east.

The compass in the iphone is pretty fickle. Sometimes it works absolutely right, other times not so right. Apple tells us to expect errors up to 15 degrees under normal use. If you have cars nearby or other large metallic objects that can likewise effect it. Hopefully the iPhone 4 compass will be a little more accurate.
